What is a "superbill" and how do I submit it?

A superbill is a detailed receipt you'll receive from us after your therapy sessions. It includes everything your insurance company needs, such as service dates, fees, and diagnostic codes. By submitting your superbill to your insurance company, you can potentially receive out-of-network reimbursement, helping to lower your therapy costs while still allowing you to work with the therapist you feel most comfortable with. It's a great way to make therapy more affordable without sacrificing quality care.

To submit a superbill to your insurance, simply log in to your insurance provider's portal and look for the section to submit claims. Upload the superbill, follow any additional steps, and your provider will review it for potential reimbursement.

What is a "Good Faith Estimate”?

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a document provided to clients in therapy that outlines the expected costs of services. As part of the No Surprises Act, therapists must give clients an estimate of fees for services, especially for those who are uninsured or paying out-of-pocket. The GFE helps clients understand and plan for the cost of care, ensuring transparency and preventing unexpected charges. This estimate covers the anticipated cost of sessions, but actual costs may vary depending on the length or frequency of treatment.

What can I expect my first session (aka "intake session") to look like?

At the end of our consult call, we will book your first session, commonly referred to as an "intake evaluation". This 60-minute session offers a warm, welcoming space where we’ll begin building a genuine connection and explore what brings you to therapy. This sessions purpose is to understand your reasons for seeking therapy, discussing your background, and begin to identify your goals. You will be asked questions about your mental and physical health history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. This is also a time for you to ask questions, share concerns, and start building a trusting relationship with your therapist. It’s the first step in creating a personalized plan to support your well-being.

Do you offer in-person sessions, virtual sessions, or both?

We offer both in-person and telehealth services, depending on your needs and/or preference.

How long can I expect to be in therapy and how will I know if therapy is working for me?

The length of therapy varies for each individual based on their unique needs and goals. Some women may find relief and progress within the first several sessions, others find relief within a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term support. Together, we’ll regularly assess your progress to ensure therapy is aligned with your goals, and we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.

To know if therapy is working for you, look for these signs:

  1. Progress Toward Goals: You start noticing progress on the goals you set together with your therapist, even if it’s gradual.

  2. Improved Well-Being: You feel a positive change in your mood, outlook, or overall well-being.

  3. Increased Self-Awareness: You become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and understand them better.

  4. Better Coping Skills: You find that you’re handling stress, challenges, or emotions more effectively.

  5. Open Communication: You feel comfortable discussing your thoughts and feelings openly with your therapist.

If you’re unsure, don’t hesitate to bring it up with your therapist. They can help you evaluate your progress and adjust the therapy to better meet your needs.

Can I switch therapists if I feel it’s not the right fit?

Absolutely! Your comfort and connection with your therapist are essential for effective therapy. If you believe another therapist might better address your needs or align with your preferences, you can openly discuss this with me and I will happily provide you with several referrals for providers who may better align with your needs/goals/preferences. Your well-being is the top priority, and finding the right therapist is a key part of your therapeutic journey.
